Understanding how each tool is used helps perform the replacement safely and efficiently.
Hydraulic Jack
Purpose
Supports the engine when the mount is removed.
Usage
• Place the jack under the oil pan or engine support point
• Use a wooden block between jack and engine
• Slightly lift the engine to relieve pressure on the mount
Important
Never lift the engine too high.
Jack Stands
Purpose
Stabilizes the vehicle during the repair.
Usage
• Lift the vehicle using a floor jack
• Place jack stands under chassis support points
• Lower the vehicle gently onto the stands
This prevents accidents while working under the car.
Socket Set and Ratchet
Purpose
Removes and installs engine mount bolts.
Usage
• Select correct socket size
• Attach socket to ratchet
• Turn counter-clockwise to loosen bolts
• Turn clockwise to tighten bolts
Torque Wrench
Purpose
Ensures bolts are tightened to manufacturer specifications.
Usage
• Set torque value recommended by the vehicle manufacturer
• Tighten bolts slowly until the wrench clicks
Proper torque prevents mount loosening or bolt damage.
Engine Support Bar (Optional)
Purpose
Supports engine weight from above.
Usage
• Positioned across the engine bay
• Chains or brackets hold the engine in position
• Used mainly in vehicles where the mount is difficult to access from below
Pry Bar
Purpose
Helps align the new engine mount.
Usage
• Slightly move the engine or mount bracket
• Align bolt holes before tightening
Penetrating Oil
Purpose
Loosens rusted or seized bolts.
Usage
• Spray on bolts before removal
• Wait a few minutes for the oil to penetrate
This reduces the risk of bolt breakage.
